Branch’s offshoring jobs warning picked up by press

The local press has now picked up branch concerns about Capita offshoring West Sussex jobs to India.

Capita is currently making five redundancies and offshoring four IT jobs to Pune, India, in its Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) support team.

This follows an earlier relocation of IT jobs by Capita from West Sussex to its offices in Derby.

Branch Secretary Dan Sartin has raised concerns at a number of committees and with councillors and senior council managers. Once jobs leave the local workplace, they are rarely brought back. Not only does this impact on the local economy, but the council is losing strategic control over its IT function and economic policy.

Among several local newspapers, the story was reported in the County Times, Crawley Observer and Worthing Herald.
