A new group ‘Refugees Welcome – Crawley’ has recently been set up in Crawley in conjunction with Citizens UK as part of their resettlement campaign.
This group aims to:
- counter some of the local negative narratives about refugees;
- support those refugees currently in hotels in Crawley; and
- encourage local councils to take refugees as part of the government’s plan to house vulnerable Syrian refugees.
The group recently had a first successful meeting.
Citizens UK are coming to give training in community organising to all those who wish to join the group.
If anyone from UNISON West Sussex would like to join this initiative you can take part in this training.
It will be held on Saturday 14 November from 2pm to 4pm – venue to be confirmed asap.
