UNISON West Sussex members in higher education (ie University of Chichester) will be consulted on the employer’s ‘full and final’ pay offer of a 1% pay rise for 2015/16, with higher increases for lower paid staff.
That means increases of between 1.1% and 2.6% for points 1 to 8 on the national pay spine, which would bring the lowest rate in line with the current living wage.
UNISON’s higher education service group executive met yesterday and agreed to consult members across the UK, agreeing that the offer is ‘the best that can be achieved by negotiation and that any improvement will only be secured by sustained strike action’.
The consultation will take place between 20 May and 26 June.
More details of the pay offer are available on the national UNISON website.
The Branch will be in touch shortly for HE members’ views.
