UNISON’s Labour Link section governs our relationship with the Labour Party. We should have influence within the Labour Party. For example, UNISON gets 2 seats on the Labour Party’s NEC – its ruling body.
The National Labour Link Committee is the Union’s leading body that sets the relationship with Labour. Every two years, members in the Labour Link section get a vote on who represents them on that Committee.
This year, voting will start from Monday 22nd September. If you are in the Labour Link section, you will receive an electronic ballot if we have your email address plus a postal ballot. You can use either one. Please use your vote!
UNISON West Sussex branch voted to back Nikki Fabry for the South East Labour Link seat. Nikki is a Guidance Manager at BHASVIC Sixth Form College in Brighton, and a UNISON rep in the Brighton & Hove UNISON branch.
We are backing Nikki because:
- Keir Starmer’s Labour Government is attacking UNISON members in extraordinary ways, from cuts to winter fuel allowance to reductions in disability payments.
- Nothing has been done to resolve the crisis in local government and school funding.
- UNISON’s leadership is failing to hold Starmer to account.
- We need our Labour Link section to stand up for UNISON policy and UNISON members and to use our money and influence far better than we are.
- Nikki Fabry will demand a reset of our relationship with Starmer so that UNISON stops being part of the problem and starts to be part of the solution.
