Parents of pupils at Littlegreen School in Compton are petitioning to stop the school becoming an academy.
Their petition, which calls for Ofsted to re-inspect the school and for the Department of Education to invoke the academy order, has already received over 750 signatures.
An online petition attracted press attention and the story was in the Chichester Observer and on BBC South Today news.
Littlegreen School is a special school for boys. Parents are concerned that academisation will do little to improve standards. but will disrupt the boys’ education as the change will unsettle them.
Parents and UNISON want Ofsted to come back and inspect the school so the academy order can be lifted. Schools should not be forced to academise against the wishes of staff and parents.
