Still time to vote in the Labour leadership election

This is a reminder – especially for those members who may just be back from annual leave – to let you know you still have time to vote in the Labour Party leadership election if you previously registered as a supporter.

The deadline for sending in your vote is 12 noon on Thursday 10 September. You can do this either by post using the form sent to you after the registration deadline, or electronically using the code supplied to you in the same mailing.

UNISON has nominated Jeremy Corbyn as leader and Angela Eagle as deputy leader. We believe these candidates best represent the union’s values and put public services and workers first.

Dave Prentis, UNISON general secretary said: “Jeremy Corbyn’s message has resonated with public sector workers who have suffered years of pay freezes, redundancies with too many having to work more for less.

“They have been penalised for too long by a government that keeps on taking more and more from them. This choice shows a clear need for change towards a fairer society where work is fairly rewarded, and where those living and working in poverty are supported.”

UNISON Branch Secretary Dan Sartin said: “I attended the recent election hustings event in Brighton and made time to talk to Jeremy Corbyn. I am convinced he is the right person for Labour leader and for local government workers.”
