West Sussex schools’ campaign hits national media

The West Sussex schools’ campaign ‘Worth Less?’ has now hit the national press and TV, after widespread coverage locally. The Guardian focused on one of the campaign’s key messages: that schools may have to consider closing for one day per week if the school funding formula isn’t changed. Our previous news article explains this more fully.

There are two actions anyone who works in a school or who sends their children to a West Sussex school can take:

  1. Complete our survey telling us how the impact of funding formula shortfalls has impacted on you and/or your school;
  2. There is now a national petition calling for a response from parliament or – if enough people sign – a parliamentary debate would be convened to discuss the situation.

UNISON strongly recommends you do both of these. Our survey will feed into the evidence base being built up by the ‘Worth Less?’ campaign, which will add weight to the evidence going to parliament, should the petition be successful.
