The branch has many employers within it who subcontract elements of their work to outsourced suppliers. TheseĀ firms are nominally independent employers, but in practice the pay, terms and conditions, and work undertaken by their staff are defined by the employer which lets the contract.
A trade union is taking this perverse state of affairs to an Employment Tribunal, to see if the law can be changed, If they are successful, it will have ramifications for millions of workers in the UK, including thousands in West Sussex.
